Carlos Carrasco Signs Minor-League Deal With Yankees
2 mins agoFree-agent right-hander Carlos Carrasco signed a minor-league deal with the New York Yankees on Monday. Carrasco went 3-10 with a bloated 5.64 ERA (4.93 FIP) in 103 2/3 innings over 21 starts for the Cleveland Guardians last season and will turn 38 in March. The deal that Carrasco signed includes an invitation to major-league spring training. The 37-year-old was booted from Cleveland's 40-man roster in September, making him a free agent. Given how much he has fallen off in recent years, he figures to open the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to provide the Yankees with starting-pitching depth. The veteran Venezuelan hurler pitched for the New York Mets from 2021-23 and had a 5.21 ERA (4.55), a 1.46 WHIP and 268:97 K:BB in 295 2/3 innings over 61 starts.
