Carlos Carrasco Roughed Up On Wednesday
3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco allowed seven earned runs over 3 2/3 innings pitched in the Mets' 10-5 loss to the Cardinals on Wednesday. Carrasco allowed eight runs in total on eight hits and two walks while striking out two. He saw his ERA on the season balloon to 4.09 over 22 IP. Despite the poor game, his WHIP currently stands at a minuscule 0.95 on the season while he holds a 23:4 K:BB ratio. Carrasco was coming off his best start as a New York Met when he went 7 2/3 IP against the Giants last Thursday, so Wednesday's outing was certainly a step back for him. That said, Carrasco looks healthy and rejuvenated so far in 2022. Managers who took a late-round flier on Carrasco should continue to roll with him, despite Wednesday's outing. He will next face the Braves at home in a tough matchup on Tuesday.
