4 years agoCarla Esparza did just enough Saturday night to defeat the previously unbeaten Marina Rodriguez. Esparza only landed 33 significant strikes but had a solid 118 total strikes. Her wrestling game was solid as well, landing five of her nine takedown attempts on the night. She totaled 8:54 of ground-control time of the 15-minute bout. The inaugural strawweight champion has now won four in a row, creeping her closer to a title shot. With her solid ground game, Esparza is always worth consideration for starting in your lineups.--Matt Bricker
