Carl Edwards Jr. Activated Off Injured List
5 years agoOn Friday, the Chicago Cubs activated relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. (thoracic strain) from the 10-Day Injured List. He had been out since mid-June with a left thoracic strain. The team optioned Randy Rosario to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Edwards was one of the team's top relievers in 2017 and 2018, recording 20+ holds both years with a sub-3.00 ERA. This year, however, Edwards has struggled to find his groove with a 5.40 ERA across 15 innings. His 40% hard-hit rate on the year is way up from about 25% the past two years. He should have an opportunity to become one of the team's top setup men again this year and is worth watching in any league where holds are valued.
