Camilo Doval Struggles With His Command Wednesday
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants closer Camilo Doval was unable to convert on his save opportunity during Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He entered in the ninth inning of the game while the Giants were up 7-4 and he wound up giving up three walks, one hit and one earned run while recording just two outs. He was then pulled from the game and Sam Long came in to record the final out. Doval has now allowed runs in each of his three outings in July and he has just one save since June 19. The Giants have been scuffling lately as they had dropped six consecutive games prior to Wednesday's victory. Once they start winning again, we'll see if the team remains loyal to Doval in the ninth. For now there doesn't seem to be another top closing candidate waiting in the wings so Doval should be able to keep his job if he can reel things in.
