Camilo Doval Blows Three-Run Lead
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants relief pitcher Camilo Doval was asked to take the ball in the ninth inning of Friday's game against the Miami Marlins. Veteran lefty Jake McGee threw a scoreless eighth inning before handing the ball to Doval. Sadly, Doval allowed three hits and three earned runs to cough up the lead to the Marlins. Luckily, the Giants tied it in the ninth, so Doval wasn't given the loss. The two teams continue to play in extra innings, so the result is still to be determined. The 24-year-old was solid out of the bullpen for the Giants last season. He posted a 3.00 ERA with 27/9 K/BB and three saves in 27 games in 2021. The Giants are likely to give Doval another chance as the closer, but his leash could be much shorter now.
