Cameron Young A High-Risk, High-Reward Play At PGA National
27 mins agoCameron Young has played five events this year with two top-15 finishes, two missed cuts, and a 72nd-place finish. Now he turns his focus to the Cognizant Classic, where he has had success in the past, finishing T4 in 2024 and T16 in 2022. In those performances, Young gained at least 1.880 strokes on approach, something he hasn't done since the Rocket Mortgage Classic in June of 2024. While his off-the-tee game has been solid -- ranking 41st in driving distance -- PGA National's emphasis on accuracy and approach play may expose some of Young's weaknesses. He has struggled with his approach shots this season, losing 14.837 strokes on approach. He also ranks in just the sixth percentile for greens in regulation from 150-200 yards, a range that accounts for 48.1% of all approach shots at this course. With a 114th ranking in scrambling and ongoing issues with approach play, fantasy managers may consider fading Young at his $8,800 price tag on DraftKings. However, his strong course history suggests this could also be a prime spot for him to turn things around. Play him at your own risk.
