2 months agoChicago Cubs third base prospect Cam Smith went 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI on Thursday to extend his current hitting streak to nine games. During this stretch, the 14th overall pick in this year's draft has posted an excellent .500/.561/.1.147 line with two doubles and six long balls. Smith began his professional career at Single-A and needed just 15 games to prove he was ready for High-A. Through his first three games at High-A South Bend, the Florida State product has tallied six total hits, with two of them going for extra bases. Given his current production, Smith will be a popular pick in first-year player drafts this offseason and could spend most of next summer in the upper levels of the minor leagues.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
