Cam Newton Plays Two Quarters In Second Week Of Preseason
6 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton stepped up his preparations for the regular season, putting in two quarters of work. Newton was able to complete nine of his 12 attempts for a touchdown and interception, having a game that was not very eventful. The interception was a result of a poor decision to throw into double coverage when he had an easy dump-off to running back Christian McCaffrey, who was completely free in the flat.
Backup Taylor Heinicke took to the field and put down a strong marker to be the backup quarterback, throwing five completions for 88 yards and an interception. The interception was a result of an attempted pass to rookie wideout D.J. Moore, who initially looked to have caught the pass, but spilled it on contact in the air for the Miami Dolphins to take advantage.
