Cam Newton Connects Well With Receivers
6 years agoCarolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton connected well with his receivers in the third week preseason encounter with the New England Patriots. Newton finished the game with 11 completions from 17 attempts, amassing a total of 142 yards in the air. He also rushed for 13 yards, showcasing his duel threat ability. It was the overall performance of Newton under center that was more impressive. Newton connected with his two of his main weapons, with both Greg Olsen and Devin Funchess ending the game with over 35 yards each. Midway through the 1st quarter, Newton was able to show that chemistry that he has established with his receiver corps. A sideline pass to Funchess, who was in tight coverage from cornerback Stephon Gilmore, for a 28 yard completion highlighted that the players are in sync with each other. Looking forward to the last game of preseason, Newton is the clear starter and looks to be every bit of the fantasy darling he was last season.
