3 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton isn't merely a fill-in until Sam Darnold (shoulder) returns next season. Rather, Adam Schefter of ESPN writes, "Newton will have a chance to cement his status as Carolina's starter for the remainder of this year and potentially the 2022 season as well. If Newton plays well this season, he would become the favorite to be Carolina's starting quarterback in 2022." This past week, the 32-year-old returned to his NFL roots in Carolina after a one-year stint in New England. He might not be ready to start over P.J. Walker against the Cardinals in Week 10, but he should be good to go for Week 11. When he does return, he'll likely slot into the low-end QB2 range.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller
