Cam Akers Leads Rams in Carries
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers carried the ball 15 times for 44 yards Week 2 in the Rams' 31-27 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. He was also targeted three times as a receiver and caught two of those for 18 yards. The 62-yard, no touchdown performance wouldn't have won the week for anyone who had the courage to start him after he laid an egg Week 1, but it was encouraging to see him involved and doing something. He out-carried Darrell Henderson by a margin of five, although he ended up with three fewer rushing yards, and he was the leading pass catcher out of the backfield. He might not end up being the lead back in LA, but he does have a role in a Rams RB committee that might end up splitting carries close to 50-50.
