Calvin Faucher Begins Rehab Assignment
1 year agoTampa Bay Rays right-hander Calvin Faucher (elbow) last pitched on June 5 in Boston, but he continued to feel soreness in his lower right-triceps muscle. An MRI exam showed inflammation, so he received an injection and was temporarily shut down from throwing. Faucher tossed an inning of live batting practice on June 23 and said he "felt really good." He was scheduled to appear in a minor-league rehab game with the Rookie-level Florida Complex League on Monday, followed by more rehab work with Triple-A Durham. The 27-year-old could be getting close to a return to Tampa's bullpen if he can avoid any setbacks. Faucher has made 13 appearances (four starts) and has allowed 11 runs on 19 hits while walking 11 and striking out 16 in 19 innings pitched in 2023.
