Caleb Thielbar Throws Another Bullpen Session Monday
Caleb Thielbar (hamstring) threw his second bullpen session of March on Monday at close to full effort. The 37-year-old sustained a left hamstring strain during his conditioning exercises in late February. Thielbar performed well for the Twins last season, going 3-1 with 14 holds and a 3.23 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 30.0% strikeout rate in 30 2/3 innings pitched. His current role limits his fantasy value in most leagues, but his numbers do make him worth a look in deeper saves-plus-holds leagues.

Caleb Thielbar Earns Third Save Of Season Monday
Caleb Thielbar earned his third save of the season in Monday's 3-1 win over the Mariners. Thielbar came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by two and delivered a 1-2-3 outing with two strikeouts. Closer Jhoan Duran was called upon to face the top of the order in the eighth inning, so Thielbar got the save opportunity. The 37-year-old veteran has gotten off to a rough start this season with a bloated 6.14 ERA in 7 1/3 innings pitched. His fantasy value will remain limited if he continues to pitch poorly, as it seems unlikely that he would earn high-leverage situations.

Caleb Thielbar To Start Season On Injured List
Caleb Thielbar (hamstring) will be one of several of the team's pitching staff to start the 2024 season on the injured list, per the Athletic's Aaron Gleeman. Thielbar suffered a strained left hamstring early in camp and, while he progressed to throwing live batting practice last week, it was determined that the 37-year-old won't be ready in time to start the season. Thielbar had a successful 2023 season, earning 14 holds with a 3.23 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 30.0% strikeout rate in 30 2/3 innings pitched. Fantasy managers in saves-plus-holds leagues should look for additional information on a timetable for his return.

Caleb Thielbar Placed On The Injured List
Caleb Thielbar (hamstring) has been placed on the injured list. It's a left hamstring strain for the 35-year-old reliever, who's worked a 4.84 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 47:15 K/BB ratio across 35 1/3 innings out of the Twins' bullpen. As of now, it's unclear how long he will be sidelined but hamstrings can be tricky so a maximum stint on the IL wouldn't be surprising. Yennier Cano was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
