Caleb Smith Looks Sharp, Earns Win Monday
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Caleb Smith put together another solid outing on Monday, holding the Pirates to two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven in 6 2/3 innings of work to earn the win in a 4-2 victory. It was a great bounce-back performance for Smith, who was lit up by the Dodgers in his last outing where he allowed nine runs on six hits and three walks in one inning of work. Outside of that rough start against the Dodgers, and a poor showing against the Giants, Smith has looked good on the mound since joining Arizona's rotation, as he's earned a quality start in three of his nine starts and sports a 24.5 percent strikeout rate in that span. He's a good option to roster in deeper formats, and in shallower leagues he's a good streaming option when he gets a favorable matchup. His next start against the Cubs could be one that managers may want to have him in their lineup for.
