Cal Raleigh 2025 Player Outlook: Highly Productive Catcher, But Don't Overpay For Career Year
9 mins agoSeattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh is coming off a career year, blasting 34 home runs and recording 100 RBI on the back of a 96th-percentile barrel rate of 15.4% in 2024. The former third-round draft pick increased his BB% year-over-year from 9.5% to 11.1% and posted a wRC+ of 117. The 6-foot-3 backstop even chipped in six steals despite coming into the season with one stolen base in his entire career. The conundrum is that Raleigh played 153 games (135 at C, 19 at DH), so he likely won't play more than that this year -- it will probably be less -- and as a result, the likelihood of repeating those numbers is not good. Not that the switch-hitter can't have another productive season and finish well within the top 10 at the position, but he finished at 99 overall last year in what was probably a statistical peak for him, yet has an NFBC ADP of 83 so far in 2025. RotoBaller sees a small step back in production, ranking him at 110 overall.
