Cal Quantrill Set To Start Saturday Against Arizona
4 years agoSan Diego Padres right-handed pitcher Cal Quantrill will enter the starting rotation for Saturday’s contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks, making his first start of 2020. Quantrill has experience with the starting staff, having made 18 starts last season to the tune of a 5.69 ERA. His numbers out of relief -- where he has spent this season -- were excellent in 2019, allowing just one run in 11 ⅓ frames. Whether Quantrill is in for a one-start stint until Luis Patino is ready to join the rotation remains to be seen, but he has a favorable matchup as Arizona has produced a .393 slugging percentage as a club at home this season, the third-lowest mark in the NL. Quantrill’s pitch count has topped out at 77 this season, which may give DFS owners some pause as it pertains to his ability to go deep into a contest.
