Cade Horton Throws Bullpen Session
1 min agoChicago Cubs starting pitching prospect Cade Horton (shoulder) completed a bullpen session on Sunday. The right-handed pitcher faced four batters in the brief session. This was the first time Horton faced live batters since being shut down last June. Horton is considered not only the team's top pitching prospect but also one of the top options in their system. Before being shut down last summer, Horton was nearing his MLB debut. He opened the 2024 campaign by getting his second look at Double-A, where he posted a stellar 1.10 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP across 16 1/3 innings. He tallied 18 punchouts and served up just two walks. He was then given a brief look at Triple-A, where he allowed 15 runs in just 18 frames. The former seventh-overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft is a name to monitor during camp, as he should be in contention to make his MLB debut later this season if he can move past this injury. He will likely open the season with Triple-A Iowa.
