Cade Horton Dominant To Start Low-A Season
2 years agoChicago Cubs pitching prospect Cade Horton made his fourth start of the 2023 season with the Low-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans. He went four innings deep, striking out seven batters and throwing 18 whiffs. The 21-year-old has been lights-out this year with a 1.26 ERA, 30.9% strikeout-to-walk-percentage ratio, and a .157 opponent batting average. It's the 2022 first-round pick's first season in minor-league baseball. A Tommy John injury limited him to only one season of college baseball, but he was dominant in his only NCAA postseason with a 2.61 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 31 innings. Horton isn't near the majors, but his early-season success should improve his stock in dynasty leagues.
