C.J. Hinojosa Signs With Marlins
2 years agoThe Miami Marlins signed free-agent shortstop C.J. Hinojosa to a minor-league deal on Friday that includes an invite to spring training. Hinojosa spent the 2022 season in the San Diego Padres organization and played in 122 games for Triple-a El Paso in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, slashing a strong .291/.359/.482 with an .841 OPS, a career-high 17 home runs, 83 RBI, 69 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 519 plate appearances. With the Marlins in need of bats, the 28-year-old has a good shot at eventually making his major-league debut with the club in 2023. In seven minor-league seasons, Hinojosa has hit .284/.342/.419 with 57 home runs, 330 RBI, 359 runs and 30 stolen bases in 693 games.
