6 years agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman C.J. Cron provided the early offense Sunday versus the Athletics. Cron would hit a two-run homer in the first inning to put the Rays up 2-0. The HR was his 27th of the season. It was also his 14th homer that put the Rays ahead this season. He has surpassed his previous best total for a season by 11 already. He is batting .252 with 27 HR and 64 RBI in 2018. Cron appeared like he might be traded before the end of August after he was placed on the waiver process but the time passed so he remained a Ray. Cron has some value in deep leagues due to his power numbers but little else.--Jamie Mellor
