C.J. Beathard Could Start For Jaguars On Thursday
1 year agoJacksonville Jaguars quarterback C.J. Beathard will get the start against New Orleans if Trevor Lawrence (knee) is unable to go. The former No. 1 overall pick is currently dealing with a knee injury and has an official questionable tag heading into the Thursday night matchup. Beathard has been the Jags' backup for the past two seasons, making a total of eight appearances for the ball club, so he is quite familiar with head coach Doug Pederson's system. While this may be the case, Beathard is a career backup that boasts a completion percentage of 59% to go along with 18 touchdowns and 14 interceptions over five seasons. On a short week against one of the NFL's best defenses on the road, Beathard would only be a streaming option this week for the neediest of superflex teams.
