San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey is getting a routine off-day on Sunday with Stephen Vogt getting the start behind the dish against D'backs starter Merrill Kelly. It's been a disappointing year for the former MVP hitting .244 with three homers and 18 RBI through 53 games for the Giants this season. Posey's power numbers have declined every year since 2014, and even his steady average hasn't held up in 2019. He doesn't offer much in any fantasy category anymore after years of dominance at the position. He's a two-catcher league option at best as he begins a Joe Mauer-esque transition in his career.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller

San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey was named the National League Comeback Player of the Year on Monday. Posey had one of his best seasons since winning the MVP in 2012 after he sat out for all of the 2020 season due to concerns over COVID-19. The Giants had the best record in baseball in 2021 with 107 wins, thanks in large part to Posey, who hit .304 with 18 home runs, 56 RBI and an .889 OPS. Before retiring following the World Series, Posey became the team's career playoff hits leader with 57, and he has also played the most postseason games in franchise history with 58. Back in 2019, he hit a career-low .257 with only seven home runs and a .688 OPS. On top of this award, Posey was named the NL Silver Slugger at catcher for the fifth time and was an All-Star for the seventh time in his illustrious career.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey, a seven-time All-Star, will announce his retirement on Thursday, according to sources. The 34-year-old will walk into the sunset after a decorated 12-year career that saw him win the 2010 National League Rookie of the Year, the 2012 NL MVP, four Silver Slugger awards, one Gold Glove and an NL batting title. Posey also helped San Francisco win the World Series in 2010, 2012 and 2014. After struggling at the plate in 2018 and 2019, Posey took the year off in 2020 and returned with a bang to the tune of a .304/.390/.499 slash line with 18 home runs and 56 RBI in 113 games in 2021. He was the fifth overall selection by the Giants out of Florida State in 2008, and he's expected to eventually be in the Hall of Fame. Posey will finish with a .302/.372/.460 line, 158 home runs, 729 RBI and 44.9 wins above replacement.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, and a strikeout in Saturday's 9-2 NLDS Game 2 loss to the Dodgers. The veteran had a great offensive season and is hitting .500 through the first two games of the NLDS. San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey got the party started in Friday's 4-0 NLDS Game 1 win over the Dodgers, going 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a strikeout. Posey launched a first-inning Walker Buehler offering over the right-field wall to put the Giants on the board first. The veteran has had plenty of post-season experience and also had a great regular season, clubbing 18 HR. Both his presence and performance will be important for the Giants to continue to produce more outcomes like they did in Game 1.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller
