Bryse Wilson Likely To Start On Sunday
4 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Bryse Wilson will likely get the start on Sunday against the Cardinals, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Over five starts with Atlanta this season, Wilson is 2-2 with a 4.38 ERA and 14.4 percent strikeout rate over 24 2/3 innings of work. He's pitched slightly better at Triple-A though, where he's 4-1 across six starts with a 4.36 ERA and 20.4 percent strikeout rate in 33 innings of work. There isn't likely to be much value from Wilson in this start, so most managers can go ahead and leave him on the waiver-wire.

Jake Bauers, Bryse Wilson Become Free Agents
4 months agoMilwaukee Brewers first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers and right-hander Bryse Wilson both cleared waivers on Monday and were outrighted to Triple-A Nashville. Both Bauers and Wilson were arbitration-eligible but will become free agents after being cast off the team's 40-man roster. Bauers matched his previous career-high of 12 home runs and also drove in 43 and stole a career-high 13 bases in 116 games in 2024 in his first year in Milwaukee, but he also hit just .199 with a .301 on-base percentage, .361 slugging percentage and below-average .662 OPS. He's now hit only .208 in five big-league seasons with five different teams. Wilson, 26, served as a swingman for Milwaukee this year, going 5-4 with a 4.04 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with a career-high 82 K's and 31 walks in 104 2/3 frames over his 34 outings (nine starts).

Bryse Wilson Getting Booted To Bullpen
8 months agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Bryse Wilson appears to be the odd man out in Milwaukee's starting rotation after the club acquired right-hander Aaron Civale from the Tampa Bay Rays this week. Civale will make his team debut on Friday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, while Wilson will be relegated to the bullpen for the time being, according to manager Pat Murphy. The 26-year-old hurler currently has a 4.27 ERA and 1.28 WHIP on the year in 20 appearances (nine starts) while striking out only 62 hitters in 78 innings of work. Wilson has allowed a lot of hard contact this year but has been slightly better out of the bullpen, so that's where he'll head for the time being. He was already a pretty weak streaming option in deep-mixed leagues before the change, so now he belongs on the waiver wire in all mixed fantasy formats.

Bryse Wilson Tagged For Five Runs In Relief Role
9 months agoMilwaukee Brewers pitcher Bryse Wilson was tagged by the Colorado Rockies in Monday's 8-7 loss, allowing five runs (all earned) and seven hits over four innings. Wilson replaced opener Rob Zastryzny in the second inning and immediately allowed homers to Charlie Blackmon and Brenton Doyle while striking out three and walking two. He is now 5-3 with a 4.27 ERA and 1.28 WHIP, striking out 62 and walking 28 over 78 innings. Wilson's penchant for allowing dingers has been an issue, as he's allowed 14 homers. Monday's outing marked the fourth time in six outings that Wilson has yielded at least three earned runs, so now is a good time for fantasy managers to bail on him.

Rob Zastryzny To Open For Brewers On Monday, Bryse Wilson To Follow Out Of Bullpen
9 months agoThe Milwaukee Brewers will have pitcher Rob Zastryzny start Monday's game against the Colorado Rockies instead of Bryse Wilson. Milwaukee has done this quite a bit with Wilson recently, as the right-hander has started just once over his last four appearances. However, he is expected to pitch the bulk of innings, while Zastryzny will only pitch one to two frames. In his last appearance on June 25, Wilson came on in relief and threw six scoreless innings with four strikeouts against the Texas Rangers. Fantasy managers, though, should have lower expectations for him on Monday, considering he'll pitch at one of the most hitter-friendly ballparks at Coors Field.
