Bryce Harper Hitting Over .300 In July
5 years agoWith 17 home runs and 69 RBI in 97 games this year, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper has been far from a fantasy bust, but it's still been a bit underwhelming considering the tantalizing upside Harper possesses and the outburst of power across the league. Harper's .258 batting average on the year has been holding him back, a low clip reminiscent to his 2018 and 2016 seasons. However, through 13 games in July, Harper's found a way to get on base more consistently, hitting .313 with six multi-hit games. Harper ranks amongst the top 10% of the league in barrel rate (13.8%), exit velocity (91.7) and xwOBACON (.469). He's yet to have one of those extended hot streaks this year where he looks like the best hitter in baseball. Hopefully for his owners that stretch is still ahead, so don't give up hope that Harper can return elite value this year quite yet.
