Bryan Abreu To Serve Two-Game Suspension In 2024
1 year agoMajor League Baseball said on Monday that Houston Astros relief pitcher Bryan Abreu's two-game suspension for throwing at Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series on Friday is upheld, but the suspension will be served in the first two games of the 2024 season. Abreu, who pitched an inning in the Game 6 loss on Sunday, will be available out of Houston's bullpen in Game 7 on Tuesday and would be available to pitch in the World Series if the Astros are able to take care of business at home in the winner-take-all. The 26-year-old right-hander is a shutdown relief weapon for Houston and has been all year. He's allowed two earned runs (both in the ALCS) in 7 1/3 postseason innings while striking out 13 and walking only two.
