Brusdar Graterol Will Continue To Work In Relief Role
5 years agoMinnesota Twins pitching coach Wes Johnson said that pitching prospect Brusdar Graterol will continue to work out of the bullpen for the time being as he builds a physical and mental routine in the big leagues. The 21-year-old Venezuelan right-hander is listed by MLB Pipeline as the Twins No. 3 prospect and No. 53 in all of baseball. He appeared in 10 games for Minnesota in 2019, posting a 4.66 ERA with 10 strikeouts and two walks in 9 2/3 frames. Graterol had a 1.92 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in 61 minor league innings -- 52 2/3 with Double-A Pensacola, 5 1/3 innings with Triple-A Rochester and three innings in the Gulf Coast Rookie League. He needs time to develop obviously, but Graterol could be an option for the Twins rotation at some point late next year. He has the upside to be a frontline starting pitcher in the Major Leagues.
