Broncos Sign Shelby Harris, Decline Option On Kareem Jackson
4 years agoThe Denver Broncos re-signed defensive tackle Shelby Harris to a three-year deal worth $27 million on Monday. The team also declined the option on defensive back Kareem Jackson, making him a free agent. Harris has carved out a big role in Denver's defense, especially the last two years since head coach Vic Fangio's arrival. He has become the team's most consistent presence up front and was tied for the league lead in 2020 with seven passes knocked down. The 29-year-old missed four games with COVID-19 and was put on the Injured Reserve with a knee injury before the season finale. Jackson had a $1.5 million option guarantee on his $10 million salary for 2021. The move frees up $7.118 million in salary cap space. The 32-year-old spent the last two seasons in Denver and had 89 tackles, an interception, four pass breakups and two fumble recoveries in 16 starts in 2020.
