Brodie Kostecki Will Forfeit 11th-Place Starting Spot at Indy Road Course
1 year agoBrodie Kostecki is making his NASCAR Cup Series debut this weekend at the Indianapolis Road Course, driving the No. 33 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. During practice, Kostecki struggled to find speed, but he found it in qualifying, posting the 11th-fastest lap. However, at the end of the session, the No. 33 Chevrolet wrecked and sustained enough damage that the team decided that it need to go with the backup car for the race. Kostecki will have to drop to the rear for the start of the Verizon 200 at The Brickyard but will still be scored from the 11th-place starting spot in DFS contests. The driver commented afterwards, stating, "I'm pretty disappointed in myself to be honest. I was just finishing my lap a little too hot coming off the banking and now we have damage. The car has speed no doubt, we should be OK for the race."
