Brock Faber Named NHL Rookie Of The Month For January
10 months agoMinnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber has been named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for January. The 21-year-old paced all freshmen with 11 assists and 13 points for the month, doing so in just 14 contests. A 2020 second-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings, Faber was traded to the Wild in a deal involving forward Kevin Fiala going to L.A. and Faber is thriving after a two-game cup of coffee in the NHL last season. He has recorded four goals and 29 points across 49 games while logging a hefty 24:51 of ice time per game, tying Pittsburgh's Kris Letang for the 10th-highest in the league. Only phenom Connor Bedard as more points (33) among rookies this season. With teammate and Wild captain Jared Spurgeon out for the season due to hip and back surgeries, Faber has taken on an even bigger role on the back end, including on the top power-play unit where he has logged two goals and nine points on the season. He is blossoming into a fantasy stud far sooner than expected.
