Brice Turang Playing In Minor-League Game, Full-Go For Opening Day
1 min agoMLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports that Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang (shoulder) was set to play in a minor-league game on Monday in order to pile up at-bats, and at this time, he's considered full-go for Opening Day on Thursday against the New York Yankees. Turang missed more than a week in spring training with a shoulder injury, but he had two hits in Sunday's Cactus League game and will be ready to go for the start of the regular season later this week. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old's shoulder injury won't allow him to open the year at shortstop -- Joey Ortiz will be there -- but he'll be locked in as Milwaukee's everyday second baseman as long as he doesn't suffer a setback with his shoulder. Although the Platinum Gold Glove winner tailed off offensively late last year, it was still a strong sophomore campaign. There's room for growth, but as of right now, consider him middle-infield depth with good speed and a safe floor.
