Brian Goodwin Will Be Nationals' Fourth Outfielder
7 years agoWashington Nationals outfielder Brian Goodwin will be the team's fourth outfielder to open the season, according to Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post. The expected move isn't official, but top prospect Victor Robles was already sent to the minors, leaving long shots Andrew Stevenson and Moises Sierra in camp. Neither will replace Goodwin who broke out in 2017. The former first-rounder posted a 105 OPS+ and hit 13 home runs and 21 doubles while striking out 69 times in 278 plate appearances. He plans to steal more bases in 2018 after swiping six in six attempts last year. With Bryce Harper, Adam Eaton and Michael Taylor in the outfield, Goodwin won't start regularly. But should any of them go down, Goodwin would be a good pick-up off the waiver wire.
