Brian Dozier Collects Two Hits Monday
5 years agoSan Diego Padres second baseman Brian Dozier went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Signed to a minor-league deal late in the offseason, Dozier is looking to play his way into a role with his new club. His main competition at second base is presumed starter Jurickson Profar. While it's unlikely that the veteran will beat out Profar for the job, he could work his way into a platoon with a solid spring effort. Last season, the 32-year old hit .238 with 20 home runs for the World Series Champion Washington Nationals. Unless Dozier earns significant paying time, he is not worth more than a speculative pick at the end of the draft.
