Brewers The Front-Runner For Gio Gonzalez
6 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers have emerged as the front-runners to sign free-agent starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez, according to sources. Gonzalez opted out of his deal with the Yankees over the weekend and is now on the open market. The 33-year-old left-hander had a nice 2.13 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 7.8 K/9 in five starts for Milwaukee after they traded for him last season. However, he wasn't very good in a few outings in the minors for the Yankees and won't be guaranteed anything if he signs with the Brewers. They could use some rotation depth with Freddy Peralta hurt, Corbin Burnes demoted and Brandon Woodruff struggling.
