Brewers Decline Their Options On Andrew Chafin, Justin Wilson
1 year agoThe Milwaukee Brewers declined to pick up their 2024 options on left-handed relievers Andrew Chafin ($7.25 million) and Justin Wilson ($2.5 million) on Thursday, making them free agents this offseason. The club also claimed infielder Vinny Capra off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Chafin will get a $725,000 buyout, while Wilson's buyout is worth $150,000. Chafin, 33, wasn't as effective in 2023 with the Brewers and Arizona Diamondbacks, sporting a 4.73 ERA (4.02 FIP), 1.42 WHIP, a career-high eight saves and 63 strikeouts in 51 1/3 relief innings. He had a 5.82 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 17 innings for Milwaukee. Wilson, 36, didn't pitch at all in 2023 while recovering from Tommy John surgery and also suffering a lat strain in the second half.
