Brett Hundley and DeShone Kizer Inspire Little Hope in Green Bay
6 years agoThe writing appeared to be on the wall for quarterback Brett Hundley when Green Bay traded for Cleveland quarterback Deshone Kizer earlier this offseason. However, through minicamp, neither has shown anything to suggest that Green Bay is solid at the backup quarterback spot. Green Bay had a tremendous amount of confidence in Hundley heading into last year. When starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with an injury, many felt they were in good hands. However, Hundley struggled when his chance came and turned the ball over too many times. Kizer similarly had a disappointing season in 2017, when he was thrown to the wolves as a rookie in Cleveland. He struggled with his accuracy when on the move and also had too many turnovers. Both players are very talented but remain quite raw, despite each having some experience in the league. It was thought that Green Bay would slot Kizer into the backup role but he, along with Hundley, disappointed in the OTAs. At this point it would seem that if Rodgers went down once again, Green Bay’s offense would likely grind to a halt just like it did last year.
