Brett Cecil Forced to Leave Wednesday's Game
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Brett Cecil was forced to leave Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the New York Mets after coming up favoring his hamstring when attempting to cover first base on a ground ball. Cecil entered spring training healthy after missing all of last season due to carpal tunnel, but the often-injured lefty may now be dealing with another extended absence. While the Cardinals have yet to give any further information, a hamstring injury this late into camp will almost surely leave Cecil unavailable until after Opening Day. Cecil was set to work in a setup role and should have some holds league value whenever he is finally able to take the field.
