Brett Baty To Be Called Up Wednesday
2 years agoThe New York Mets are expected to call up third base prospect Brett Baty ahead of Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. The team recently lost primary third baseman Luis Guillorme (groin) to a groin injury and he is expected to miss three to four weeks. Meanwhile, the team's backup third baseman Eduardo Escobar (oblique) is dealing with an oblique injury and may require a stint on the injured list as well. Baty is ranked as the Mets' No. 2 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old has spent the bulk of the 2022 season at Double-A, where he slashed .312/.406/.544 with 19 home runs, 59 RBI and 73 runs. He was promoted to Triple-A about a week ago. He's not a high priority add for fantasy managers in season-long leagues but he's very much worth keeping an eye on.
