Brenton Doyle 2025 Player Outlook: Looking to Expand on a Breakout Campaign
22 mins agoDoyle is coming off a breakout 2024 season that saw him bat .260 with 23 home runs and 30 stolen bases. We always knew Doyle possessed elite speed, so he should be a safe source of stolen bases for 2025, so long as he can get on base. That's been a challenge for Doyle at times (career .289 OBP), but he made some plate discipline improvements in 2024. The biggest leap must be the reduction in strikeouts for Doyle. He whiffed 35% of the time in 2023, but cut that to 25.4% of the time in 2024. He also improved his walk rate by 2.5% and had a career-high .317 OBP. Not great, but Doyle plays half his games in Coors Field, so he should be able to improve that number, especially if he continues to improve his contact rate. He also displayed some power at the major league level for the first time. At 6'4" 220 Doyle is a big guy and had power in the minor leagues, so it was nice to see that translate in 2024. Doyle made some minor gains in quality of contact in 2024, raising his launch angle to 13.2 degrees and his hard hit rate to 41.4%. That will help him sustain the power gains, though Doyle might see some regression in his 14.9% HR/FB rate, which was about 3% higher than league average last year. Doyle should threaten for 20-25 homers and 25-30 steals yet again in 2025. He's solid value around pick 75 in NFBC drafts, and at just 26 years old Doyle has plenty of room to grow.
