Brent Rooker Homers In Spring Debut
4 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Brent Rooker went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in his Grapefruit League debut on Monday in a win over the Rays. In his very first at-bat of the spring, Rooker sent a 98-MPH Tyler Glasnow offering over the fence in right field to give the Twins a 1-0 lead. The 26-year-old broke his arm in September last year after debuting in just seven games- but is back healthy and understands the opportunity that's ahead of him with the starting left field job potentially up-for-grabs. Rooker posted a .861 OPS while clubbing 59 doubles and 54 homers in three minor-league seasons, briefly impressing in his first taste of big-league action during the shortened 2020 season. It's unlikely that he wins a starting job outright, but Rooker is a name to watch in deep leagues if he can log at-bats in the powerful Twins lineup.
