2 years agoCarolina Hurricanes defenseman Brent Burns logged two power-play assists as the team kicked off the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 2-1 victory over the Islanders. The veteran rearguard capped off the regular season with a three-game goal streak, and he maintained his good offensive form in the playoff opener, becoming the oldest defenseman in Hurricanes/Whalers history to record a postseason point. Burns, who turned 38 in March, has started his first playoff campaign since 2019.
