Brendan Rodgers Eying 20 Stolen Bases In 2021
4 years agoColorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers is looking forward to the team emphasizing speed this year. In a recent interview, he told Rockies beat writer Patrick Saunders that he wanted to steal 20 bases this year, while confidently adding "You heard it here first." Rodgers has a chance to be the team's primary second baseman this year. The 24-year-old has had a tough time in his 32 major league games the past two years. He's slashing .196/.235/.227 with just one extra-base hit, a double, over his two-year MLB career. He's yet to steal his first bag in the majors, but he stole 12 bases in his last full year in the minors, 2018, which he split between Double-A and Triple-A. He's an intriguing sleeper in all leagues this year with the potential to hit for power while also adding stolen bases.
