Brendan Gallagher Won't Play Thursday
2 years agoMontreal Canadiens right wing Brendan Gallagher will miss Thursday's contest against Calgary with a lower-body injury. The team is set to evaluate him day-to-day. It's not been a good year for Gallagher, as he exits the lineup with only eight points to his name through 22 games. Joel Armia is taking over his spot on the second line. The Finnish winger has done even worse than Gallagher and is still looking for his first points with 11 games played. It's been truly a miserable campaign for Armia, but he is also slated to skate on the second power-play unit on Thursday and maybe that can help him finally get going.

Brendan Gallagher Busy On Sunday
2 months agoMontreal Canadiens right wing Brendan Gallagher tallied two points during their overtime victory over the New York Rangers on Sunday evening. Gallagher scored his 11th goal of the season in the opening frame with a tip-in goal. Later in the second period, Gallagher would tally the primary assist on Christian Dvorak's fourth goal of the season. He also logged five shots on goal and two hits in this contest. This performance snapped a nine-game scoring drought for Gallagher, and this was his first multi-point outing of the campaign. Overall, the 32-year-old has tallied 11 goals and eight helpers through 46 games. He should continue to have a permanent role on the third line of the Montreal offense.

Brendan Gallagher Slapped With Five-Game Suspension
1 year agoMontreal Canadiens right wing Brendan Gallagher has received a five-game suspension for an illegal check to the head of New York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech in Thursday's game. The suspension will keep Gallagher out of action until Feb. 15. Gallagher has produced eight goals and eight assists across 48 outings in 2023-24. Rafael Harvey-Pinard will have a chance to move up in the lineup on Saturday against Pittsburgh, while Jesse Ylonen could be set for regular action during Gallagher's absence.

Brendan Gallagher To Have Phone Hearing For Elbow Thursday
1 year agoMontreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher will have a phone hearing for elbowing New York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech late in his team's 4-3 win Thursday night. A phone hearing means any suspension cannot exceed five games while an in-person hearing allows the league to suspend him more than five contests. Although he plays a hard game, it was a rather uncharacteristic move from the veteran who has a clean suspension history. It's been a difficult season offensively for the 31-year-old who has scored just eight goals with eight assists on 103 shots across 48 games. He has been limited to 59 games or less in each of his four previous seasons but has, so far, not missed a game this season, something that will change with a suspension imminent.

Brendan Gallagher Confident Of Bouncing Back From Injuries
2 years agoMontreal Canadiens right wing Brendan Gallagher is hoping to get back to his best with a healthy season. The 31-year-old has skated in just 93 games across the previous two campaigns, looking like a shadow of his former self. Last season, Gallagher posted only 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in 37 outings. "I've had a good summer. I have hit all my numbers in the gym, I feel good on the ice," Gallagher told The Montreal Gazette's Steve Ewen. "It's just about getting a little bit of luck and staying healthy for a full season and I'll get back to where I need to be. I felt good last summer but I broke my ankle, and it was a frustrating year. I wasn't there two summers ago [coming off the playoff run], but I'm there now." In top form, Gallagher has been a 30-goal, 50-point player. Getting him near the same level would be like having a new player for the Canadiens. In total, Gallagher has notched 395 points (202 goals, 193 assists) in 675 career games.
