Brayden Point Centering New-Look Line
7 years agoTampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper did some line juggling before Thursday’s Game 4. This could be surprising to some, considering his team was coming off a 4-2 win in Game 3, but Cooper and the Lightning knew their play was not at its best and that they shouldn’t rely on power-play success to propel them. Brayden Point centered the second line between Tyler Johnson and Yanni Gourde, who was promoted from the third line. The new unit seemed to ignite something in Point, as he came out in Game 4 as if shot from a cannon. The Capitals scored first in the game, but Point’s line was quick to remedy that. Just 1:10 after the opening goal, Johnson, Gourde and Point made short, quick passes in the offensive zone, resulting in Point sliding the puck into a mostly empty net to tie the game. With more splendid passing, Point recorded the primary assist on Steven Stamkos’ power play that gave the Bolts the lead three minutes later. Point now has three straight games with a goal and an assist, with four points coming on the power play. Point is a strong DFS start and is proving he can play with anyone in his lineup.

Brayden Point Records Four Assists In Big Win
4 months agoTampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point recorded his second career four-assist game in Thursday's 8-1 win over San Jose. He helped set up a power-play goal for Jake Guentzel and notched three even-strength assists as Anthony Cirelli, Nick Perbix, and Nicholas Paul found the back of the net. Point became the fifth player in franchise history with multiple four-assist games. The Lightning star has mostly done his scoring via goals this season, lighting the lamp 16 times, which puts him tied for third on the league's goal-scoring charts. Strangely, Point didn't have a single assist in nine November outings. He's managed 25 points (16 goals, nine assists) in 20 games over the course of the season.

Brayden Point Records Unique Hat Trick Versus Capitals
4 months agoTampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point bagged his fifth career hat trick in very strange circumstances in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to Washington. After he had bagged two goals in the first period, Point was credited with a third goal in the final frame when Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren put the puck into his own net on a failed clearance attempt. It's the first time on record (since 2009-10) that a hat trick has been completed via an own goal in the NHL. The goal gave Tampa Bay a 4-3 lead, but luckily for Lindgren, the Capitals were able to turn things around inside the final 10 minutes of play. Point has been hot in front of the net all year, potting 15 goals in 17 games, which puts him tied for third in the league. He has also picked up five assists.

Brayden Point Ready To Return Versus Penguins
5 months agoTampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point (lower body) will return to the lineup Tuesday versus Pittsburgh. He has received the green light to return after sitting out four games. Before suffering a lower-body injury, Point was on fire, going scoreless in only two of 12 appearances. He has notched eight goals and five assists this term. Point will join Jake Guentzel and Nikita Kucherov on the top line, bumping Anthony Cirelli down to the second. Cirelli must also relinquish his role on the first power-play unit, but he will still have a good amount of fantasy value. The 27-year-old has averaged a point per game in 16 appearances, with four goals and 12 assists.
