Brayan Bello Unlikely To Be Ready For Opening Day
1 month agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Brayan Bello (shoulder) is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day. Manager Alex Cora noted that the right-hander is progressing well but he is still behind. Bello has been dealing with shoulder soreness throughout most of camp and will now likely open the season on the injured list. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status in case he begins to turn the corner. If Bello were to open the season sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Richard Fitts or Quinn Priester to compete for the open spot in the rotation. Last season, Bello logged a career-high 162 1/3 innings of work. He posted a 4.49 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP. He tallied 153 punchouts and held a high 9.3 percent walk rate. However, he did generate a solid 51.3 percent ground-ball rate. When he is cleared to return, he will carry value in deeper standard formats.
