Braxton Garrett Works Into The Fifth Inning On Monday
3 years agoMiami Marlins rookie starting pitcher Braxton Garrett was decent in Monday's start against the St. Louis Cardinals. Garrett pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out three. Garrett actually made it through four innings while only giving up one run, but manager Don Mattingly inexplicably let him face the Cardinals order for a third time, and what everyone but Mattingly expected to happen, happened. Garrett profiles as a solid back-of-the-rotation starter, but he still has some things to work out and could use more time in the minor leagues. He's up with the Marlins due to multiple injuries on the pitching staff, and should get another start or two before anything changes.
