Braxton Garrett Scratched From Start, Put On IL
2 years agoMiami Marlins left-handed pitcher Braxton Garrett (oblique) will not make his scheduled start Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and will instead head to the 15-day IL with a right oblique strain. The details on how and when the injury occurred are still unknown, but Garrett will not start tonight and won't be available until near the end of the month. It is unfortunate for the young lefty, as he was in the midst of a breakout season. Since the start of July, Braxton has a strong 2.91 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 49 K over 46 ⅓ IP. He should be on fantasy manager's radars in the late rounds of next year's draft and should continue to help down the stretch this year if he can come back healthy. Bryan Hoeing will make his major league debut Saturday in place of Braxton.
