Braves Have Been In Touch With Matt Olson
3 years agoThe Atlanta Braves have been in touch with Oakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson, who is an Atlanta native, in the event that free-agent first baseman Freddie Freeman signs with another team. The New York Yankees and Texas Rangers have also been interested in trading for the rising left-handed slugger, but no deals are close. The Braves have been interested in Olson since before the lockout, and Freeman could be close to joining the Los Angeles Dodgers. The A's aren't just going to give Olson away -- they asked for Yankees top shortstop Anthony Volpe in a deal -- after the 27-year-old made the All-Star team in 2021 while hitting .271/.371/.540 with a career-high 39 home runs and 111 RBI in 156 games. Olson is RotoBaller's No. 3 fantasy first baseman behind only Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Freeman.
