Brandon Workman Records First Save of Season
4 years agoBoston Red Sox closer Brandon Workman managed to escape trouble in the ninth inning of Wednesday's 6-5 victory against the Mets, as he picked up his first save of the season in the process. The 31-year-old entered the game with a two-run lead in the ninth inning, but found himself in trouble after walking two batters and surrendering a pair of hits. Workman allowed one earned run but struck out two batters to help the Red Sox end an early season four-game losing streak in his second appearance of the season. Workman posted 10 wins, 16 saves, 104 strikeouts and a 1.88 ERA through 71 2/3 innings last season, making the right-hander a quality option across standard fantasy formats.
