Brandon Workman Earns Sixth Save
5 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Brandon Workman allowed a base hit and struck out two en route to his sixth save of the season in Monday's 7-5 win over Kansas City. It's the 30-year-old's first save since July 17. Workman has been the best reliever in Boston this year, and it's really not close. Nathan Eovaldi hasn't taken over the closer duties like many expected, upon his return from the injured list. Instead, Workman has gotten consistent work at the back-end of games, and very well could continue getting the save chances. He's 8-1 on the year, with a 1.99 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 49 2/3 innings. Either way, this bullpen has been a mess all season and it's hard to have fantasy trust in any reliever in a Red Sox uniform.
